Speedycop's Automotive Oddities Go Drag Racing!

Maryland International Raceway has become one of the premier drag racing venues on the east coast, and its location (a mere 40 minutes from Casa De Speedycop) makes it a prime destination for some Friday night team shenanigans. Speedycop & The Gang of Outlaws took the Upside Down Camaro, the Spirit of LeMons Cessna, and the Geo Metro Stretch limo to MIR to pit them against each other. Strangely, they all achieved almost the same MPH in the 1/4 mile, although the 1.3L Camaro/Festiva hybrid was about a second faster than the 2.2L plane, and several seconds faster than the 1.0L (3 cylinder) Geo limo. Built for racing the 24 Hours of LeMons, they are set up for maximum reliability and great fuel mileage during endurance road races---not low ET's and quick 60' times. Mostly, though, they are just built to entertain the spectators, and entertain they did. Even the track announcer said "This [upside down Camaro versus Cessna] may be the most interesting drag race in MIR history!" Labor Day weekend meant very low numbers of race cars present, and plenty of passes down the 1/4 mile for those who showed up. Both the Geo Limo and the plane were driven to and from the track as well, making for lots of dumbfounded expressions (and countless photos) from the other motorists on the road.
